It’s always a sad day when we wake up to our last morning of Teen Rock Camp. The tents start coming down, the gear gets packed away and we go on our last outing together.  We cruised up to the top of Bridge Buttress to get one last look at the bridge and reflect on our time together. Today was our last full day of climbing and our Instructors Jeff and Bonnie let us pace ourselves out at the Meadow River climbing area which gave some of us the opportunity to get in touch with our wilderness selves. Putting the Rad in Trad

Today we learned how to place trad gear and worked on our jamming skills. Instructors Jeff and Bonnie had us place a ton of active and passive gear at ground level then we went around and talked about the good the bad and the ugly. Then we sampled cracks of all sizes and learned techniques to climb them efficiently through hand jams, fingerlocks and laybacking. We had another awesome day at Teen Rock Camp! The day started out with a big breakfast of scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and bacon to fuel a full day of climbing at the crag. Instructor Jeff gave us a lesson on lead belaying.

Today was the day we got to learn how to lead climb! Our instructor Jeff started out with a morning lesson on the finer point of lead climbing. We practiced flaking out the rope to make sure there were no knots it it, we learned the importance of closing the system for safety, and we learned about how to manage the rope while lead climbing.  Not to worry…all of our leading was done with a top-rope backup system while we …
